9:55【El do Land Atomic Energy PR Center】 Play and learn in a jungle✕ futuristic space!
About 55 minutes by car from Tsuruga. El do Land Atomic Energy PR Center, located in Takahama Town, is a science park where visitors can learn about natural science and energy.
Visitors can enjoy athletic and other activities in the "Tropical Wonder," a large all-weather greenhouse, and participatory exhibits in the "Science Wonder," another content of the park, allowing visitors to move around and play with all their might even on rainy days.
Visitors can enjoy athletic and other activities in the "Tropical Wonder," a large all-weather greenhouse, and participatory exhibits in the "Science Wonder," another content of the park, allowing visitors to move around and play with all their might even on rainy days.
Tropical Wonder
Spread out before you is an open jungle space! In this all-weather, rainforest-themed greenhouse, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including a thrilling aerial athletic facility (for a fee) and a jungle net. Except for the aerial athletic equipment, all other equipment can be used free of charge!
aerial athletics
The "Aerial Athletic" that surrounds Tropical Wonder is a thrilling experience! Anyone above elementary school age and taller than 125 centimeters can try it. After receiving a briefing from the staff, visitors are required to wear safety equipment such as helmets and harnesses. Even though you know you are safe because of the lifeline, your first step may be a little nerve-wracking!
The staff members are watching us from below, and they encourage us to move forward. They will help you advance at your own pace and not rush. They aim to reach the goal at their own pace without being rushed.
The wobbly log and wire scaffolding is one of the athletic highlights. The highest point is about 10 meters above the ground, and the bottom is in full view. ...... Keep your nerve until you reach the goal.
At first, they were scared, but by the end of the day, their steps seemed to be lighter. Since the aerial athletic course allows for up to two laps, many children are ready to try a second lap as soon as they reach the finish line.
stair gym
The "Kaitan Gym" is located on the first floor of Tropical Wonder, where visitors can play on ladders, nets, and other stairway equipment. After you go down the wiggly tube slide, you can go back up again! Climb, slide, and have plenty of fun.
jungle net
The "Jungle Net," a net-type trampoline, is a popular piece of playground equipment for adults as well. You can feel it working on your thighs as you jump around (laughs).
Bouldering Wall
Reaching the GOAL may be surprisingly difficult, even for adults. You can also enjoy bouldering in a space filled with greenery.
After a great deal of fun in the Tropical Wonder, head to the other space, Science Wonder!
Science Wonder
The Tropical Wonder is an exciting change from the Tropical Wonder, with a space that reminds you of the near future! Visitors can enjoy learning about the principles of science and how electricity works while actually seeing, touching, and playing with it.
This is an exhibit that makes a sound when you hold your hand over the hole. There are many hands-on exhibits in Science Wonder that allow visitors to experience the wonders of light and sound.
In the exhibit where visitors learn that the coils become magnets through the power of electricity, by turning the handle (generator), the coils become magnets so that even adults can hang from them.
There are also many other exhibits that use the body, such as pedaling a bicycle to generate electricity to light up LEDs and riding a ball coaster with a pulley to create electricity. These exhibits are fun to play with and provide visitors with an opportunity to develop an interest in the wonders of science.

11:30【UMIKARA】Fill up at the fresh fish market.
UMIKARA, a fish and travel market, is located next to the fishing port in Takahama Town and offers fresh seafood landed every morning. In addition to a restaurant where you can enjoy seasonal seafood dishes, a barbecue site is open from May to October. After enjoying a delicious lunch while feeling close to the sea, enjoy selecting souvenirs at the well-stocked store.
cafeteria
In addition to table seating, the restaurant also has tatami room seating with plenty of space between seats. The bookshelf is filled with picture books about fish to keep children entertained while waiting. Enjoy a relaxing meal while gazing at the ocean stretching out before you.
Kaisendon in love with Wakasa
If you are at a loss for what to eat, this is the dish for you! This bowl of rice topped with seafood from Wakasa is a true "jewel box" of seafood. On this day, there were six kinds of ingredients: squid, salmon, sea bream, yellowtail, sweet shrimp, and Spanish mackerel.
Wakasa pickled mahata grouper on rice
Wakasa mahata is a brand-name farmed fish from Fukui Prefecture, also known as "fantastic high-end fish. It is characterized by its chewy and plump texture, and has an elegant sweetness and richness. It has a different taste when served with hot dashi broth.
Ingredients for the pickle bowl can be purchased at the market next door. In addition to mahata, sea bream and Fukui salmon are also available, making it hard to decide which to choose.
Children's Fish Fry Plate
Large fried shrimp and fried fish make this plate a satisfying meal. The carefully handmade tartar sauce, potato salad, and chicken rice are delicious and satisfying even for adults. A hamburger steak plate is also available on the children's menu.
Orange juice is not included in the plate.

The store has a large aquarium tank where fresh seafood can be purchased even in stormy weather.
Purchased fish can be had as sashimi at the market and eaten at the Umikara Restaurant.
TOTOMARU" is a surimi ball made from white fish by carefully grinding every small bone. Even children who do not like fish can easily eat them without worrying about the bones. They have no peculiarities and go well with any dish, so they can be used in soups, hot pots, and many other dishes.
UMIKARA Select
This is the place to find stylish souvenirs! UMIKARA Select sells drinks, sweets, processed foods, seasonings, and original sundries made from locally grown fruits and vegetables. Be sure to check out the seasonally changing "window art" painted on the windows overlooking the ocean.
This drink base is made with strawberries and lemons picked locally. Simply pour in milk, soda water, or water to create a drink with the fresh taste of freshly picked strawberries.
Whole "Uchinoura lemons," a specialty of the Uchinoura district in Takahama-cho, are kneaded into the dough and baked into a richly flavored financier. It is popular for its refreshing taste.

Kinoko-no-Mori Amusement Land is a theme park featuring mushrooms, a specialty of Ooi Town. It is easily accessible from the expressway, and many people visit in combination with the roadside station.
There is a lot of playground equipment on the vast grounds, and visitors can also play with balls and water. The adjoining "Mushroom Museum" is a museum dedicated solely to mushrooms, a rarity in Japan. On the second floor of the museum, there is a video experience facility by Team Lab.

The symbolic tower is 30 meters high with a mushroom motif. Ascending via a see-through elevator, visitors can enjoy a view of abundant nature. A connecting bridge from the observation deck leads to the "Big Slider," a gigantic slide.
View from Kinoko-Tower
The mountain to the right in the foreground is commonly known locally as "Onigiri Mountain. It is indeed a beautifully triangular-shaped mountain. It is definitely worth a visit in spring as well, as you can see the cherry blossom scenery spreading out below!

Thrilling sledding on artificial grass slopes for ages 3 to junior high school students. Because of the high speed, safety protective gear (specially designed for the Kinoko-no-Mori Amusement Land) must be worn.
Moon carts, which allow children to freely drive on a dedicated cart course, are a very popular attraction for little ones. It is free of charge.

mushroom museum
Kinoko-no-Mori Amusement Land is not just for outdoor play. Visit the Mushroom Museum on the grounds, which includes a museum on the first floor and a video experience facility produced by TeamLab on the second floor.
On the way to the "Mushroom Museum," I found a mushroom growing wild. It is truly a "mushroom forest! Also, the pathway is covered with trick art that makes pictures of mushrooms and squirrels appear three-dimensional, so be sure to check your step as you walk along the path.
Mushroom Diorama
The museum has four dioramas that simulate beech and red pine forests, and replicas of various species, from familiar mushrooms to poisonous mushrooms that are highly poisonous, are on display.
From October to April each year, visitors can see mycorrhizal shiitake mushrooms growing at the facility. These are sold online as well as at the roadside station.
Next, let's visit the TeamLab video experience facility on the second floor of the building!
TeamLab's visual experience facility (Drawing Town)
A large screen shows colorful vehicles and houses. In the center is the mushroom tower we saw earlier!
Choose from among eight different types of trucks, fire trucks, UFOs, houses, etc., and color freely.
The resulting picture can be scanned and imported as data to ......
The picture you drew appeared on the screen! It was a surprise to see a flat picture appear as a three-dimensional object!
When you touch the pictures on the screen, you can perform various actions, such as launching missiles from a spaceship or spraying water from a fire truck. The game can be played for 50 minutes with a one-time fee of 300 yen, so try the other pictures as well.
TeamLab's visual experience facility (table inhabited by dwarfs)
On the other side of the "Drawing Town" screen is the "Table Dwarfs Dwelling". Lots of dwarfs are walking around with cute movements. It is fun just to look at them, but of course, that is not all.
For example, if you place your hand on the table and make a pass-through, the dwarf will change its path according to the shape of your hand.
You can put out fires and grow plants by moving the position of rain clouds.
Over here, a delicious-looking fried egg was cooked in a frying pan. Please enjoy the world of cute dwarfs by touching them in various ways.
This alone is enough to keep visitors busy for half a day, but the park also has a pottery museum where visitors can try their hand at making ceramics, and a restaurant called "Shokuumashu" that serves a wide variety of mushrooms, a specialty of the park.
If you feel that one day is not enough fun, we recommend becoming a "chibiko member," a membership open to children from 3 years old to 6th grade elementary school students. Admission fee, big slider, rental items for the slopes, and Team Lab facilities are free for an entire year, and it pays for itself with just one visit to the park. Upon joining, a passport with your photo will be issued on the spot.

14:30 From "Kinoko-no-Mori Amusement Land" to "Roadside Station Uminpia Ohi" (about 11 minutes by car)
14:41【Roadside Station Uminpia Ohi】Souvenirs from the sea and mountains all in one place
This roadside station is located within the "Uminpia Ohi" leisure complex, which includes a hot spring facility and a "Kodomo Kazoku Kan" (Children's Family Museum). Facing Wakasa Bay, the station was built in the image of a ship docked at a wharf. It is a perfect place to stop for a break from driving, a meal, or shopping, and the tourist information center inside the facility offers sightseeing consultation services. Gelato made from locally produced ingredients is also popular.
In addition to marine products, Ooi Town is also rich in mountain produce such as plums and shiitake mushrooms. The store is filled with locally grown and processed foods and sweets.
Nadasho pickles are popular pickles made in the former Nadasho village. The light flavor makes it easy to eat, and the cut-up size makes you want to try many different kinds. It is recommended for both home use and for distribution.
A popular product made from dried shiitake mushrooms, a specialty of Ooi Town. The light texture is pleasantly crunchy, and the more you chew, the more the shiitake mushroom flavor spreads in your mouth, creating a new sensation. The package depicts Kumashishu, the official character of Mushroom Forest.
The staff recommends the "Ume Plum Jelly" made from Ooi Town's specialty plums. It is popular among children and is offered in school lunches in the local area. Since it is made from the pulp of fully ripe plums, it has no sourness, and the rich sweetness and aroma can be enjoyed.
Ume sweets such as "Fukui Ume Roll," a mini-sized baumkuchen filled with ume jam and vanilla cream, and "Fukui Ume Castella," baked with ripe ume puree and slightly pink in color, are also highly popular.
GELATO & CAFE
At this gelato factory, all gelato and sorbet are handmade using seasonal fruits and vegetables shipped to the local specialty store. The most popular items are the "Strawberry Milk" made with strawberries grown in the town and the refreshing "Ume Sorbet" made with Ooi Town's specialty ume plums. If you can't decide which one to choose, we recommend the two-pack.
One type of gelato is 350 yen, and two types are 400 yen.
